Funding: BMBF, 09/2024-08/2027
Background: Funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF within the program “High-performance components and optimized materials for quantum communication”. Total volume: 5.63 Mio. €, of which 4.05 Mio. € are funded by the BMBF.
Content:The goal of the project “PARFAIT” is to develop secure procedures and methods for the use of post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and crypto-agility for the automotive sector. To this end, the suitability of current and new PQC methods will be tested and compared, and the necessary requirements for their use in the automotive sector will be determined. In addition, technologies and management processes are being developed for the simple change of cryptographic primitives and algorithms in automotive components. To this end, future architectures, protocols and migration strategies of the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) are being evaluated. The research team aims to ensure that the procedures can be easily updated during subsequent operation if required. In addition to technological solutions, operational and process concepts should also be included so that the vehicles function securely in the long term and are protected throughout their entire life cycle.
Project partners: Infineon (Konsortialführer), DENSO, Vitesco, Fraunhofer-Institut AISEC, FU Berlin, Hochschule Darmstadt, Hochschule RheinMain.
